Art Galleries

The Cape Cod area has an abundance of artistic talent. Here, you'll find numerous unique art galleries featuring the paintings, photographs, and sculptures of Cape Cod's most talented artists.

Many of their galleries are just a short distance from Handkerchief Shoals Inn. In this article, we discuss a few of our favorite nearby galleries and artists.

Addison Art Gallery

Location: 43 South Orleans Road, Orleans, MA

Main Attraction: "After Hopper"

Located in Orleans, Massachusetts, Addison Art Gallery features art from new artists and established artists. Artists from the United States (including Cape Cod artists), France, and South America are represented.

The gallery also serves as a location for artists and art lovers to get together and share ideas. In addition, the gallery hosts "After Hopper," which spotlights artists influenced by Edward Hopper.

Cape Cod Museum of Art

Location: 60 Hope Lane, Dennis, MA

The CCMA is designed to study and exhibit the works of artists associated with Cape Cod and the Islands. The CCMA exhibits works of art in seven galleries, as well as a sculpture garden. Members of the museum also host events throughout the year and offer art classes for kids and adults.

The site has a large reference library of art resources and a gift shop, the Museum Shop, where you'll find unique gifts created by represented artists.

Gallery Antonia

Located in downtown Chatham, Massachusetts, Gallery Antonia features the works of the Cape Cod region's best artists. Gallery Antonia is intended to be an art gallery for art lovers. The owner, Domonic Boreffi, has extensive experience in the art gallery business. He holds events throughout the year.

Focus Gallery

Location: 595 Main Street, Chatham, MA

Focus Gallery specializes in fine photography from a number of excellent local and regional artists. The photography is generally related to nature and coastal areas. The gallery also has an excellent staff that is able to answer all your questions about the site's featured artists and their various techniques.

The Art Gallery of the Guild of Harwich Artists

Location: 551 MA-28, Harwich Port, MA

Main Attraction: Works of 24 local artists

The Art Gallery of The Guild of Harwich Artists has been around since 2007. It features the works of 24 local artists. Paintings reflect the Harwich area of Cape Cod and Nantucket Sound. A variety of media are used, including oils, watercolors, ink, and graphite. Prices for many of these unique paintings are very reasonable.

You can also view the artists' one-of-a-kind sketches. Visit their website for information of the specific artists whose works are featured at the gallery.

The Nines Art Gallery

Location: 562 Main St, Harwich Port, MA

Main Attraction: Paintings of translucent subjects

The Nines Art Gallery features original oil paintings and limited-edition photography by its owners, Lauren DiFerdinado and Luther Bates. (Lauren does oil paintings, and Luther does photography and creates frames.)

The gallery is a large open space, where Lauren's paintings are on display and Luther creates unique frames for the paintings. Lauren's studio is also on-site. Many of Lauren's paintings involve translucent subjects, including glass and water. Luther's photography focuses on ocean scenes and subjects.

The Nines Art Gallery is located in the downtown section of Harwich.
